In 1981, Lucien John Naarden obtained a doctoral degree in Psychology from the University of Leiden, the Netherlands. His top subject was: Personality Psychology and Psychodiagnostics. Secondary subject: Work and Organizational Psychology and Secondary subject: Economics. In the same year he completed a partial course at the same university and obtained the First Degree Teaching qualification in Economics.
In 1991 he completed a Post-Graduate Course Supervision at the “Hogeschool van Amsterdam” for supervising university and other students and employed persons.
On November 10, 1999, he obtained his PhD in Psychology/Social Sciences with the thesis: “Psychological and Social Aspects of Crime in Suriname” at the University of Brussels/Anton de Kom University of Suriname
Additional Trainings:
In 1977, on behalf of the University of Leiden, he took part in the Parapsychology project for 6 months under the supervision of Prof. Tenhaeff at the University of Utrecht.
In 1979 he also participated for 6 months in the project “Work Psychology/Youth Unemployment” at the University of Leiden.
From May to July 1981, he conducted organizational research at the Rotterdam Municipal Office for Organizational Psychology into the functioning of immigrants in the various neighborhood accommodations of the Municipality of Rotterdam.
In 1990 he became involved with the Center for the Promotion of imports from developing countries in the Netherlands (Center for the Development of imports from Developing Countries). He also participated in the Matchmaker VIII: (Extended) Senior Trade Seminar for an Intensive Orientation in the field of International Marketing and Trade. Furthermore, he also did the Promotion Management for exporting to Western European market.From 1990 to 1992 he was trained by the Center for the Development of Industries of the EC-ACP Lome Convention in Brussels: How to write and assess project proposals for the financing of industrial projects, ranging from feasibility studies to financial consultancy.
In 1992 he completed the Financial Airport Management course in Aruba and in the same year he participated in Goal Directed Management of Coopers & Lybrandt Netherlands Antilles.
Work experience
From October 1978 to February 1979 he worked at the Pedological Institute in Paramaribo/Suriname.
In 1981 he qualified in psychodiagnostics at the National Psychological Service in The Hague. In the same year in April he went to the Office for Organizational Psychology of the Municipality of Rotterdam and was involved in the Department of Personnel Selection and Recruitment, Organization and Management advice.
From November 1981 to January 1985 he was appointed head of the Forensic Psychology Department of the Ministry of Justice, Paramaribo.
From February 1985 to February 1989 he was head of the Delinquent Care department at the Ministry of Justice, Paramaribo. He was also a policy advisor to the minister in the field of Management and Organization and a member of the Expert Group of the Caricom Drug Abuse and Trafficking Control Team.
From 1989 to 1992 he was secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Suriname and Antennae of the “EC Center for the Development of industries” for the Chamber of Commerce in Suriname.
From October 1992 to March 1996 he was Management Coordinator at Topmanagement Aruba, Managing Director of Topcar NV, Arucar NV, Airways Carrental, Top Services and Hedwina Carrental.
From March 1996 to the present he has been the General Manager of his own consultancy company: N.A.A.M-Consultancy. He is also the General Manager/master licensee of Leadership Management International Suriname, an international company that focuses on Personal and Organizational development.
From 1998 to present he is the director of Suriname Yellow Pages and representative of Caribbean Publishing Company Suriname.
From 2001 to present, he is a Master Licensee (franchisee) of Leadership Management International and coordinator of the activities of the LMI representatives throughout the Caribbean.
